Since 1954, the Westfield River Wildwater Race has been our annual spring thaw festival on water, when paddles drum, spectators line the banks, and the hilltowns and surrounding communities trade cabin fever for river fever. Generations have cheered, splashed, volunteered, and told stories that get a little faster and a little more exciting every year.
Recent safety upgrades mean more trained crews, more equipment, and more behind-the-scenes coordination. The race is safer than ever, but it also costs more to keep the current running smoothly.
