Army Corps of Engineers

The Corps of Engineers operates the two large flood-control dams on the Westfield River - Knightville and Littleville, both located in Huntington. Tours and class visits can be arranged by calling.

Connecticut River Watershed Council

The CRWC works to protect the Connecticut River watershed (that includes us!) from source to sea. They collaborate, educate, organize, restore, and intervene to preserve the entire watershed for generations to come.

Northeast Utilities

Northeast Utilities' educational programs cover safety, conservation, energy, and electricity. They provide a variety of educational resources including a speakers bureau and environmental brochures. NU also runs the Holyoke and Turner's Falls fish ladders and the Northfield Mountain Center.

Northfield Mtn Rec/Environmental Center

Operated by Northeast Utilities, this site features a science center, which provides energy and environmental programs, guided nature walks, exhibits and teacher workshops. USGS - MA Water Resources

The U.S. Geological Survey is responsible for monitoring water flow in the nation's rivers. Real-time and historical data are available at four gaging stations in the Westfield River Watershed and at many others in the region.

1955 Westfield River Flood DVD

The Little Black Dog Gallery, in partnership with WRWA, will sell DVDs of "Five Feet and Rising: The Flood of '55". This 28-minute documentary recounts the devastating Westfield River floods of August 1955. The film includes a number of interviews with Westfield residents recalling their experiences of the 1955 event - the largest recorded flood in Westfield's history. Non-profit organizations can obtain free copies of the DVD by contacting Kathy Meyer at 568-4252.
